Finnish startup DonutLab unveiled the world’s first mass-producible all-solid-state battery at CES, with plans to integrate it into Verge Motorcycles’ electric motorcycles in Q1 2026. The battery boasts an energy density of 400 Wh/kg—nearly double that of conventional lithium-ion batteries—enabling a 600-kilometer range, 5-minute fast charging, and an exceptional cycle life exceeding 100,000 cycles, theoretically lasting over 27 years. It retains more than 99% of its capacity across extreme temperatures from -30°C to 100°C and carries no risk of fire. DonutLab claims the battery is lower-cost and does not rely on rare materials, though it has not disclosed specific technical details. While some performance claims have drawn skepticism, the company emphasizes its unique technological approach. Pre-orders are now open for the Verge TS Pro and Ultra models, starting at $29,900, with deliveries expected in Q1 2026.
