In 2025, approximately one-quarter of the vehicles sold by the BMW Group in Europe were fully electric. When plug-in hybrid models are included, the share of electrified vehicles exceeded 40% of total sales. This strong performance has bolstered BMW’s confidence in meeting the European Union’s 2025 CO₂ emissions targets for passenger cars. Over the past year, deliveries of BMW and MINI brands in Europe rose by 7.3% year-on-year to 1,016,360 units, while deliveries in Germany increased by 8.7% to 290,742 units. In March this year, the all-new iX3 will begin customer deliveries, followed by the launch of fully electric versions (i3 and iX5) and plug-in hybrid variants of the next-generation 3 Series and X5. The mid-cycle update of the 7 Series will continue to offer both plug-in hybrid and all-electric i7 models. Additionally, the iX4 is expected to launch in 2026. BMW aims to have every second vehicle it sells be free of internal combustion engines by 2030, accelerating its transformation with the “Neue Klasse” (New Class) platform. Despite its aggressive push toward electrification, BMW continues to support the development of internal combustion engine technology and is advocating for EU regulations that would allow the sale of combustion-engine vehicles beyond 2035, provided they meet stringent emissions standards.
