Renault has unveiled its new R-Space Lab concept car as part of its “Garage Futurama” innovation platform, aimed at exploring in-cabin space and digital experiences around 2030. This vehicle is not a prototype for a production model but rather an experimental showcase embodying Renault’s “voitures à vivre” (cars made for living) philosophy. The interior features a wraparound OpenR Panorama curved display, a compact steer-by-wire steering wheel, and a tactile alcohol detector—highlighting a special focus on young driver safety. The cabin layout offers exceptional flexibility: the front passenger seat can slide far rearward, while the three individual rear seats feature foldable backrests and flip-up cushions. Combined with a flat floor, this setup enables seamless transitions between passenger comfort and cargo-carrying configurations. Expansive glazing, frameless doors, and rear doors that open to 90 degrees enhance both visual openness and practical accessibility. Through this concept, Renault explores new possibilities for integrating space, intelligence, and utility in future vehicles.
