Uber and NVIDIA announced a deepened collaboration on autonomous driving, planning to launch robotaxis powered by NVIDIA’s full-stack software in Los Angeles and San Francisco in the first half of 2027, and expand the service to 28 cities worldwide by 2028. The autonomous fleet will be built on NVIDIA’s DRIVE Hyperion platform and its next-generation AI model, “Alpamayo,” which is specifically designed to handle complex “long-tail” scenarios such as construction zones and unexpected pedestrian behavior. This marks a critical step for NVIDIA toward becoming a full-stack software provider for Level 4 highly automated driving.
