On March 17, WeRide, an autonomous driving technology company, announced a partnership with Southeast Asian mobility platform Grab to launch a pilot operation of its Robotaxi GXR in Punggol, Singapore, with plans to officially open the service to the public on April 1. This deployment marks WeRide’s accelerated push toward commercializing Level 4 autonomous driving in Southeast Asia. As the only company globally holding autonomous driving permits in eight countries—including China and the UAE—WeRide has already conducted testing and operations in over 40 cities across 11 countries. The company expects its Robotaxi fleet to reach 2,600 vehicles by the end of 2026 and plans to deliver 2,000 GXR units this year. WeRide listed on Nasdaq in 2024 and is set to debut on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2025.
