BMW has officially confirmed that its all-new electric i3 will be offered as a Touring (wagon) variant. Built on the "Neue Klasse" platform, the vehicle features a 108 kWh ternary lithium battery, delivering a WLTP-rated range of 559 miles (approximately 899.6 kilometers)—making it the longest-range pure electric vehicle available in the UK market. The model made a brief appearance at its launch event, showcasing distinctive rooflines and a liftback tailgate design. BMW Chairman Oliver Zipse stated that the Touring version would appeal strongly to both business and family users, describing the i3 as “marking a completely new beginning.” As one of the first models in the Neue Klasse lineup, the i3 is equipped with next-generation electric drive units on both front and rear axles. Official figures for boot capacity have not yet been released, though the current combustion-engine 3 Series Touring offers 500 liters. Additionally, the existing internal-combustion 3 Series will undergo significant upgrades to align with the technological standards of its electric counterpart.
