BAIC Group recently announced the successful development of its sodium-ion battery prototype, achieving technical specifications that rank among the industry's best. The first battery pack utilizes prismatic cells, delivering an energy density exceeding 170 Wh/kg, supporting 4C ultra-fast charging (fully charged in 11 minutes), and operating across an exceptionally wide temperature range from -40°C to 60°C. At -20°C, it retains over 92% of its energy capacity. The battery demonstrates outstanding safety and environmental adaptability even under extreme conditions such as electrical, mechanical, and thermal abuse. BAIC has now mastered the full suite of core technologies for sodium-ion batteries—from materials and cell design to system integration—and has established a mass production process for prismatic cells, filing 20 related patents. This milestone marks the completion of BAIC’s "Aurora Battery" strategy, which encompasses three major technological pathways: lithium-ion, solid-state, and sodium-ion batteries, establishing a comprehensive, self-reliant battery ecosystem capable of addressing all application scenarios.
