Amazon-owned autonomous driving company Zoox plans to launch self-driving taxi trials later this year in Austin and Miami, USA. Its vehicles feature a distinctive "toaster-like" design, with no steering wheel or pedals inside, relying entirely on autonomous systems for operation. Initially, the service will be limited to Zoox employees and their friends and family. It will then expand through an "Explorer Program," opening access to the public, though users will need to join a waitlist for ride opportunities. Testing will be confined to specific, small areas within both cities.
