In Q1 2026, CATL made a strong comeback with a market share of 50.1%, reclaiming half of China’s power battery market after a five-year gap. Its share had declined annually from a peak of 51.9% in 2021, hovering between 43% and 45% from 2023 to 2025, before staging a significant rebound this year. BYD, ranked second, saw its share drop further to 17.5%, down from 21.8% in 2025. Gotion High-Tech secured third place with 6.1%, while CALB slipped to 5.3%. Second-tier players such as EVE Energy, REPT Battery, and Sunwoda maintained stable shares ranging from 2% to 5%. Foreign brands became increasingly marginalized, with LG Energy Solution holding only 0.7% of the market and SK and others having essentially exited the domestic market. Overall, market concentration in the power battery sector has intensified, solidifying the dominance of domestic manufacturers.
