At the pre-sale launch event for the XPeng GX, XPeng Motors CEO He Xiaopeng once again addressed the ongoing debate over whether the industry should skip Level 3 (L3) autonomous driving. He stated that, from a safety perspective, the most prudent development path is to leap directly from Level 2 (L2) to Level 4 (L4), accumulating sufficient data throughout this process while always prioritizing safety and simultaneously pushing for the refinement of relevant policies. He emphasized that L4 must achieve true driverless operation and ensure safety; if a system can guarantee safety but still cannot operate without a human driver, it essentially remains at L2.
