On April 15, Volvo launched the domestic pre-sale of its all-electric flagship SUV, the EX90, offering two variants with a pre-sale price range of RMB 539,900 to RMB 609,900. Built on Volvo’s native luxury electric SPA2 architecture, the EX90 features a closed-off front grille and Thor’s Hammer LED headlights. It measures 5,037 mm in length, 1,964 mm in width, and 1,747 mm (or 1,942 mm with roof rails) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,985 mm and a drag coefficient of 0.29 Cd. Inside, the cabin reflects Scandinavian design principles and is equipped with a 9-inch full LCD instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch HUD head-up display, and a 14.5-inch central touchscreen powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. Additional features include an electrochromic panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, and a 25-speaker audio system. Under the hood, the EX90 is powered by a dual-motor setup: the Plus variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, while the Ultra version achieves the same in just 4.2 seconds. Both models come standard with a 106 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, delivering CLTC-rated ranges of 756 km and 737 km respectively, and support 10%–80% fast charging in only 22 minutes. The EX90 adopts an 800V high-voltage platform—an upgrade from previous 400V systems—and integrates Volvo’s self-developed third-generation electric drive system and battery management system (BMS). The vehicle’s torsional rigidity has been improved by 50%–60%. Its electrical/electronic architecture has also evolved from a distributed domain control setup to a centralized computing architecture, significantly enhancing computational power, system coordination, and response speed.
