Geely Auto Group recently unveiled its next-generation AI-powered hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) technology—i-HEV Smart Hybrid. Built on the GEEA 3.0 intelligent dedicated electronic and electrical architecture and empowered by the full-domain AI 2.0 system, this technology achieves a combined fuel consumption of just 2.22 L/100 km and an engine thermal efficiency of 48.41%, representing the highest level currently achieved among mass-produced vehicles globally. Developed under Geely’s “Joule Project” energy-saving engineering framework, the i-HEV system integrates YuFeng Tornado combustion technology and “Mirror Surface Engineering” low-friction, low-loss design. Combined with a high-power P1+P3 hybrid electric drive configuration and a 60C high-rate hybrid-specific battery, the system ensures the engine consistently operates within its most efficient range. The hybrid battery features a flat-plate liquid cooling design, complies with China’s GB38031-2025 safety standard, and carries an IP68 dust- and water-resistance rating. The Xingyue L i-HEV Smart Hybrid and Xingrui i-HEV Smart Hybrid, equipped with this new technology, will open for pre-orders on April 19. Later this year, multiple best-selling models from Geely’s “China Star” lineup—including the Xingrui, Xingyue L, fourth-generation Boyue L, and fifth-generation Emgrand—will progressively adopt this hybrid system. Geely Auto Group has established a comprehensive multi-energy technology portfolio encompassing pure electric, hybrid, range-extended electric, methanol, battery-swapping, and highly efficient internal combustion powertrains, achieving breakthroughs across multiple technological pathways.
