Nissan is accelerating its product lineup revitalization. In addition to the already confirmed launches of the R36 GT-R and the next-generation Z sports car, the company is also evaluating the potential return of more classic performance models. Richard Candler, Nissan's Global Head of Product Strategy, stated that the company is conducting a thorough reassessment of its sports car portfolio and explicitly expressed hopes for bringing back the Silvia nameplate. He noted that there remains market space for the Silvia, with the key challenge being to find the right approach. Previously, Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa also revealed that the company is advancing other sports car projects beyond the GT-R. The next-generation Silvia is expected to be positioned as an entry-level sports car, potentially competing against models such as the Mazda MX-5 Miata, Toyota GR86, and Subaru BRZ. Candler emphasized that such vehicles must prioritize affordability and accessibility.
