On April 17, Xiaomi Group announced two senior executive appointments via an internal email: Hu Zhengnan has been named Vice President of Xiaomi Group and CTO of its Automobile Division, while Song Gang has been appointed Vice President and Chief of Staff of the Automobile Division. This marks the first time Xiaomi Auto has established a CTO position since its inception in 2021. Hu Zhengnan entered the automotive industry in 1997 and brings nearly three decades of experience. He joined Shunwei Capital as an investment partner in 2021 and participated in Xiaomi Auto’s early-stage work as an advisor. He has publicly appeared at key events such as the SU7 launch event, the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, and the SU7 Ultra’s Nürburgring track challenge. Song Gang previously held positions at General Motors and Ford Motor Company. In 2018, he joined Tesla as Vice President of Manufacturing for Gigafactory Shanghai, where he led the factory’s construction and ramp-up of production capacity.
