BYD officially launched its all-new Sealion 05 on April 20, offering both DM-i plug-in hybrid and EV all-electric variants across nine trim levels, with a manufacturer-suggested retail price range of RMB 97,900 to RMB 145,900. The entry-level 220 Launch Edition starts at RMB 97,900. All Sealion 05 EV models are equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and FlashCharge technology, enabling the vehicle to gain enough charge for daily commuting in just five minutes and reach 80% state of charge in nine minutes. Even in extreme cold conditions (-30°C), charging time increases by only three minutes. The Sealion 05 DM-i features BYD’s fifth-generation DM technology paired with a PHEV-specific Blade Battery, delivering a NEDC-rated fuel consumption of just 3.1 L/100 km under low-battery conditions, a combined full-tank/full-charge driving range of up to 2,105 km, and a maximum CLTC pure-electric range of 305 km. The Sealion 05 is available in six exterior colors: Coral Orange, Muchuan Green, Seashell Pink, Junyao Gray, Ocean White, and Warm Sun White. The EV variant adopts BYD’s Ocean Aesthetics design language and comes with Wave-inspired alloy wheels, while the DM-i version features dual-tone five-spoke starburst wheels. Both variants share dynamic “Sea Leap” character lines and an all-new rear-end design. Interior color options include Almond Beige and Dusk Blue, complemented by multi-color ambient lighting with “Light Follows Mood” effects. Higher trims offer optional LiDAR hardware, supporting the “God’s Eye B” advanced driver-assistance system (DiPilot 300) and DiLink 150 intelligent cockpit (premium version), which enables four-zone, full-scenario voice interaction. Additional smart features include Baby Mode, Car Wash Mode, Sentry/Long-Range View, ADAS Eco Mode, One-Touch Preconditioning, Screen Wipe Mode, Nap Mode, Camping Mode, Pet Care Mode, and Co-Pilot Comfort Mode. All variants come standard with V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) mobile power station functionality, delivering up to 6 kW of external power output. Safety-wise, the Sealion 05 is built to meet C-NCAP 5-star standards, featuring an integrated CTB (Cell-to-Body) architecture with an internal skeletal structure, seven airbags (including front-to-rear side curtain airbags), and a Driver Monitoring Assistance System. With a wheelbase of 2,770 mm, the Sealion 05 offers a foldable rear seatback, providing 600 liters of trunk space in the EV variant and 650 liters in the DM-i version, along with over 30 onboard storage compartments. The driver’s seat offers 6-way and the front passenger seat 4-way power adjustment. The cabin also features a next-generation wide-temperature-range high-efficiency heat pump system and a panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade that blocks 99.9% of UV rays. An integrated smart refrigerator offers cooling from -6°C to 6°C and heating from 35°C to 50°C. Under the hood, the Sealion 05 uses a native rear-motor, rear-wheel-drive layout, with a five-link independent rear suspension and a minimum turning radius of just 4.7 meters. It is equipped with BYD’s Cloud Ride-C intelligent damping control system. The EV variant further adds iTAC 2.0 intelligent torque vectoring control, a motor delivering up to 240 kW of peak power, and a 0–100 km/h acceleration time as quick as 5.9 seconds. The Sealion 05 boasts an industry-leading low A-pillar blind angle of just 2.7° and includes a five-direction dashcam covering front, rear, left, and right views. It also features a High-Speed Blowout Stability Control system, which BYD claims limits lateral deviation to less than 0.75 meters during a tire blowout at 140 km/h. The vehicle supports E-Call emergency roadside assistance and BYD’s I-Call 24/7 intelligent customer service. Additional features include the industry’s first automotive-grade magnetic tissue box, front seat welcome and memory functions, facial recognition-based automatic seat adjustment, an automotive-grade magnetic LED vanity mirror with soft lighting, a 110-liter front trunk with electrolytic unlocking (accessible via knock-to-open), and a co-pilot comfort mode with leg rest that simulates a zero-gravity seating posture.
