CATL Unveils Qilin Battery and New Tech: 1,500-km Range, Sodium-ion Batteries to Enter Mass Production This Year

Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) recently announced several advancements in new energy battery technologies. Its third-generation Qilin battery offers a range of 1,000 kilometers, while the Qilin Condensed Battery achieves up to 1,500 kilometers of range. The second-generation Xiaoyao super hybrid battery now delivers a pure electric range of 600 kilometers. In terms of fast charging, the third-generation Shenxing ultra-fast charging battery achieves an equivalent 10C and peak 15C charging rate. The company plans to build 4,000 integrated ultra-fast charging and battery swap stations by the end of 2026. Additionally, CATL expects to begin mass production of sodium-ion batteries within this year; these batteries feature low cost and long cycle life, making them suitable for energy storage and extreme climate applications.
