On April 21, Novosense launched the NSI6911F series of isolated gate driver ICs—the first domestically developed isolated gate driver in China built on a fully localized supply chain, certified by TÜV Rheinland, and compliant with the ISO 26262 ASIL D functional safety standard. The series targets high-voltage applications in new energy vehicles (NEVs), including main traction inverters, onboard chargers (OBCs), and DC-DC converters. The NSI6911F series delivers a peak drive capability of 19A and a common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of ±150 kV/μs. It integrates a 12-bit high-precision isolated sampling ADC (rated ASIL B) and multiple protection features, including Miller clamp, over-temperature protection, adjustable DESAT/SC/OC detection, adjustable UVLO, programmable soft turn-off, and two-level turn-off. The device supports a tri-state output strategy, enabling appropriate response paths under fault conditions to enhance system robustness. Housed in an SSOW32 package, the NSI6911F series offers pin-to-pin compatibility and bill-of-materials (BOM)-level drop-in replacement with competing devices—requiring no PCB layout changes. On the power management front, the primary side supports input voltages up to 32V and includes an integrated 5V LDO, while the secondary side provides both a 5V LDO and an adjustable VCC2 LDO (14V–21V), minimizing external power supply design requirements. Developed strictly in accordance with the ISO 26262 V-model process, the NSI6911F series encompasses SEooC assumption definition, decomposition of hardware safety requirements, and functional safety verification. It is accompanied by comprehensive functional safety documentation and technical support to help OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers efficiently complete system-level functional safety assessments. This product launch responds to the industry shift toward 800V high-voltage platforms and SiC power devices in NEVs, which demand higher performance from gate drivers in terms of noise immunity, driving capability, and reliability. Additionally, national standards such as GB/T 43254-2023 and GB 21670-2025 explicitly require electric drive systems to meet ASIL C to ASIL D functional safety levels in critical scenarios. Novosense has obtained TÜV Rheinland certification for its ISO 26262 ASIL D “Defined–Practiced” level functional safety management system, demonstrating end-to-end development capabilities—from system-level safety concepts to silicon implementation. The company has also established a Functional Safety Center of Competence (FuSa CoC) to ensure that all development activities are controlled, trustworthy, and fully traceable.
