In 2026, China’s commercial vehicles will officially enter an era of mandatory ADAS standardization. According to Amendment No. 1 to five industry standards—including the "Safety Technical Conditions for Commercial Passenger Vehicles"—issued by the Ministry of Transport, newly manufactured commercial buses, trucks, and hazardous materials transport vehicles must be equipped with active safety systems such as Automatic Emergency Braking Systems (AEBS) and Lane Departure Warning Systems (LDWS). Against this backdrop, EHang Intelligent unveiled its next-generation intelligent driver-assistance solution for commercial vehicles at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. Leveraging algorithmic expertise and engineering experience accumulated in the passenger vehicle segment, the company has specifically fine-tuned its AEB algorithms to address key characteristics of heavy-duty trucks—such as significant variations in payload, long braking distances, and frequent high-speed driving scenarios—to meet the upcoming mandatory requirements and achieve performance levels on par with industry leaders. Data shows that in 2025, the front-loaded penetration rate of AEB in China’s commercial vehicles was below 10%, while LDW system adoption stood at approximately 19.6%. Early solutions typically offered only basic functions like Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW), falling significantly short of full AEB capabilities featuring automatic braking. Due to cost sensitivity and technical complexity, commercial vehicle AEB systems have long struggled to balance performance and affordability. EHang Intelligent’s self-developed AEB system is the first domestically developed system in China to receive a five-star rating from Euro NCAP. Vehicles equipped with this system have already been exported to over 100 countries and regions worldwide, accumulating nearly ten billion kilometers of real-world safety validation. Since 2025, the company has actively expanded into the commercial vehicle segment, and its new solution delivers enhanced computing power and performance while maintaining costs at a relatively low level within the industry. The solution has already secured定点 (nomination/award) from multiple leading heavy-truck manufacturers and is scheduled for mass production in the first half of 2026—aligning precisely with the critical implementation window of the new mandatory standards. This move is expected to drive large-scale deliveries in the commercial vehicle intelligent driving market and accelerate EHang Intelligent’s strategic expansion from a passenger vehicle ADAS supplier into the commercial vehicle domain.
