At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, SAIC Motor showcased over 100 vehicles from more than 10 of its brands across a massive exhibition space of nearly 13,000 square meters, including over 10 global or China premier models. Since March 2026, SAIC has intensively launched multiple intelligent electric vehicles and core technological innovations both domestically and overseas. Roewe unveiled the "world’s first AI-native vehicle," the Roewe Jia Yue 07 concept car, built on the industry-first CPP (Context, Planner, Pixel-level Function Calling) AI-native architecture, enabling full hardware, functional, and experiential optimization for AI at the foundational level. The IM LS8 features the segment-exclusive full-wire-controlled four-wheel steering system with ±24° intelligent rear-wheel steering and is equipped with the full-featured Momenta IM AD advanced driver-assistance system. It also debuts the Qwen large language model-powered IM Ultra Agent, supporting complex voice commands. The 2026 MG4 officially launched with VMC high-speed blowout-stable tires standard across all trims. The newly added 437 Smart Fun trim brings intelligent driving assistance down to the RMB 80,000 price bracket. The Wuling Starlight family’s first large six-seater SUV, the Starlight L, made its global debut and opened for blind pre-orders. The Shangjie Z7 and Z7T simultaneously debuted—positioned as a stylish tech-oriented coupe and a shooting brake respectively—with Huawei Qiankun ADS 4.1, an 896-line LiDAR, TuLing platform, Jingyu 800V high-voltage battery platform, and HarmonyOS cockpit standard across all variants. Also featuring Huawei Qiankun technology, the HuaJing S flagship large six-seater SUV was unveiled at the show and is scheduled for market launch on May 8. SAIC-GM-Wuling signed an expanded strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei Qiankun, extending collaboration across the entire HuaJing series. Among joint ventures, SAIC Volkswagen’s ID. ERA 9X—the first model in the ID. ERA NEV lineup—officially launched, blending German engineering with Chinese intelligent technologies. Audi presented the global premiere of the E7X, slated to become Audi’s first mass-produced L3 autonomous driving vehicle, with pre-sales opening on May 8. SAIC-GM Buick displayed the complete lineup of its ZhiJing new energy family for the first time, including the ZhiJing E7, ZhiJing Shijia, and ZhiJing L7. Cadillac introduced the “full-size pure-electric road flagship” VISTIQ, carrying forward the Escalade’s flagship DNA. In the commercial vehicle segment, MAXUS launched the industry’s first “super extended-range large van,” the DaNa Super Extended Range, powered by CATL’s 50 kWh Tianxing battery, delivering a CLTC pure-electric range of 312 km and an operating cost of approximately RMB 0.05 per kilometer. It also offers an 8-year or 600,000-km battery cell warranty. Technologically, SAIC has invested over RMB 150 billion in electrification and intelligentization over the past decade and holds nearly 26,000 active patents. Its end-to-end intelligent driving large model has entered mass production. SAIC has partnered with OPPO to co-develop a “smartphone-car connectivity” intelligent cockpit and collaborated with Doubao to launch a deep-thinking large model. On safety, SAIC pioneered an “integrated active/passive” intelligent safety system, and its “Magic Cube” battery passed thermal runaway tests lasting six times longer than national standards, achieving “zero spontaneous combustion and zero thermal runaway.” In powertrain technology, SAIC’s DMH dedicated hybrid engine achieves a thermal efficiency of 46.3%, placing its HEV system among the world’s best. Between March and April 2026, SAIC rolled out a wave of new models—including the Roewe i6, MG4X, IM LS8, Shangjie Z7, fifth-generation Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, ID. ERA 9X, Cadillac VISTIQ, Buick ZhiJing E7, and HuaJing S—spanning domestic and joint-venture brands, and covering BEV, PHEV, and ICE segments. Several models received immediate market acclaim: the IM LS8 garnered over 8,000 orders within one hour of launch; the Shangjie Z7/Z7T surpassed 12,000 orders in 24 hours; the ID. ERA 9X secured 11,000 locked orders in one hour; and the Buick ZhiJing E7 exceeded 10,000 sales in just 90 minutes. In 2025, SAIC achieved comprehensive growth in sales volume, revenue, and profit. In Q1 2026, the group reported wholesale deliveries of 973,000 vehicles, up 3% year-over-year, and retail sales of 1,008,000 units—making it the only automaker in China to surpass one million retail sales in a single quarter.
