The national average price for regular gasoline in the U.S. rose by more than 6 cents on April 27, reaching $4.18 per gallon—a wartime high. Since the outbreak of the Iran war on February 28, gasoline prices have surged by $1.19 per gallon. Over the past week, the Midwest saw the sharpest increases, with Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Nebraska, and Wisconsin among the six states nationwide where weekly price hikes exceeded 6%.
