onsemi and NIO have further deepened their long-term strategic collaboration to jointly advance NIO’s transition to its next-generation 900V high-voltage electric vehicle (EV) platform. The two companies are engaging in system-level co-engineering based on onsemi’s EliteSiC enhanced M3e technology, which optimizes the body diode characteristics to enhance switching performance and reduce losses while maintaining excellent short-circuit robustness—enabling longer driving range, stronger acceleration, shorter charging times, and higher reliability. This expanded partnership builds upon their existing collaboration on NIO’s 400V platform and now evolves into comprehensive co-development covering the entire high-voltage vehicle architecture. NIO’s latest flagship SUV, the ES9, along with several new models featuring this technology, are scheduled to make their global debut at the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. Leveraging its system-level integration capabilities, onsemi will help NIO reduce development complexity and accelerate the deployment of high-performance, scalable EV platforms. As the EV industry shifts toward higher-voltage architectures, such close collaboration between semiconductor companies and automakers is becoming an industry-wide trend.
