The Nissan Primera is expected to make a comeback in 2026 as a fully electric vehicle, nearly two decades after its discontinuation. The name has already appeared in documents from the Philippines’ Department of Energy, referring to a battery-electric sedan. The new model measures 4,930 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,915 mm. It features a single motor producing a maximum output of 160 kW and peak torque of 305 N·m—identical to the entry-level Dongfeng Nissan N7. Equipped with a 60 kWh battery pack, it offers a CLTC-rated range of 500 kilometers. Stylistically, the new Primera is expected to closely resemble the Nissan N7, with the primary difference likely being the “Primera” badge on the rear. The interior is anticipated to directly adopt the N7’s minimalist dashboard layout and 15.6-inch central touchscreen. Produced by Dongfeng Nissan at its Huadu plant in Guangzhou, this vehicle marks Nissan’s first model entirely led by its Chinese joint venture in terms of design, development, and component selection. The same facility also manufactures the smaller N6 and NX8 SUVs. Nissan has not yet announced an exact launch date for the Primera, though it previously confirmed that the N7 will be exported to overseas markets. According to the Philippine Department of Energy documents, the Primera’s introduction in the Philippines is nearing finalization. It remains to be seen whether Nissan will extend the Primera nameplate to other export markets.
