NIO Hits Over 1 Million Battery Swaps During May Day Holiday, with Highway Swaps Exceeding 75%

During the May Day holiday in 2026 (May 1–5), NIO Energy completed a total of 1,031,469 battery swap services across its nationwide network of 3,839 battery swap stations. On May 1 alone, it performed 170,585 swaps, averaging one swap every 0.51 seconds. On highways, battery swapping accounted for 75.8% of all services, with 1,035 highway swap stations delivering over 15.43 million kWh of charging and swapping energy—representing 16.3% of the total highway charging and swapping volume nationwide. This saved users over 220,984 hours of waiting time, a 20% year-over-year increase in time savings. Throughout the holiday period, NIO and ONVO users collectively traveled more than 566 million kilometers. Over 130,000 users drove more than 1,000 kilometers each—a 70.5% year-over-year increase—and more than 220,000 users completed long-distance road trips relying entirely on battery swapping. Demand for swapping services in county-level areas surged significantly, with swap orders increasing by 167.6% compared to the previous period. Jixi County in Xuancheng, Anhui; Chengkou County in Chongqing; and Shanghang County in Longyan, Fujian ranked as the top three counties in growth. By the end of the holiday, NIO’s battery swap network had expanded to cover over 1,300 districts and counties nationwide. Nine provincial-level regions—including Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, and Hainan—achieved “county-to-county” battery swap coverage. Additionally, NIO opened its 5,010 charging stations and 28,806 charging piles to all new energy vehicle owners, with over 87% of the charging energy delivered during the holiday serving users of other brands. NIO’s 85 “Power Journey Scenic Routes” provided 73,301 charging and swapping services to multi-brand new energy vehicle owners.
