BMW's Sixth-Generation eDrive Electric Drive Technology Achieves Mass Production in China

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-11-08 00:09:00

Recently, BMW presented the progress of localizing its sixth-generation BMW eDrive electric drive technology in China. The new-generation BMW iX3 and new-generation BMW i3 will be the first to adopt this technology. BMW is building a local new energy vehicle supply chain with cell partners such as CATL and EVE Energy, as well as motor partners such as ZF and Aisin. BMW's partnership with CATL has spanned 15 years. CATL supplies large cylindrical cells and lithium iron phosphate battery solutions for the domestically produced new-generation BMW iX3 and BMW i3, with the single-cell safety failure rate controlled at the one-in-a-billion level. Aisin produces the new-generation electric drive assembly in China customized according to BMW's independently developed technical requirements, achieving localization of BMW's externally excited synchronous motor.
