Ford boasts a variety of SUVs in China, including the Kuga, the Edge, and the Everest, covering small to mid-size products. INA has learned from Ford that it will launch a new entry-level mid-size SUV, the Territory, which was jointly developed by Ford and Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) and targeted for the Chinese market. The new car will be equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360™ Smart Driving Assistance System and the “FordPass Connect” system. Regarding power, this SUV will be powered by a gasoline engine, a 48V mild-hybrid system and a plug-in hybrid electric system. In addition, the Territory will be officially sold in early 2019.
Regarding exterior design, the overall shape of this new SUV is quite dynamic and visually impactful with its body posture swooping down. The front-end is designed in a family style, and the hexagonal grille is decorated with chrome accents. The headlamps on both sides are illuminated with LED light and integrated into the grille. The bumper has a sharp angular shape and is embedded with LED daytime running lamps. The bottom of it is attached with silver guards, making the car a sporty look.
Regarding interior design, the Territory is dominated by black with sophisticated piano-painted panels and chrome accents. The center console is centered on the driver and equipped with a large embedded display, enabling the driver being surrounded by it. It is full of technology featuring a “FordPass Connect” system to support functions like intelligent voice control and 4G LTE wireless hotspot. Moreover, the new car will be equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360™ Smart Driving Assistance System to ensure driving safety.
The leather seats give the new car an extra luxurious feel, and the second row of seats is equipped with independent air conditioning vents. The overall floor is relatively flat and spacious, with a large panoramic moonroof, ensuring great ventilation in the car.
Regarding power, the Territory will be powered by the EcoBoost® in-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged engine, adopting the Miller Cycle with higher thermal efficiency. And the new SUV will also have 48V mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.
