Mazda’s First BEV SUV Unveiled and Expected to Enter China in 2020

Mazda’s first pure electric concept car made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show on Wednesday, with a name of Mazda MX-30. The car is positioned as a small SUV with sustainable materials in the interior, which highlights the company's zero-emissions philosophy. The new car adopts a side-by-side door, and is is powered by Mazda's latest e-Skyactiv electric system.. According to the registration information and the previous new car plan, the new car is expected to enter the Chinese market in 2020.

As the picture shows, the new car continues Mazda's family-style design "kodo", and the overall body is designed as crossover models. The front end adopts a blackened mesh grille, and the lower bumper is connected with the wheel eyebrows and the like to surround the body, thereby increasing the sense of sporty. 

The B-pillar on the side is removed and a side-by-side door is adopted, which provides a space for the rear passengers to get off. The front seat belt is transferred to the rear door. In terms of size, the new car has a length, width and height of 4,395 mm, 1,795 mm, and 1570 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,655 mm. The tire of the new car is 215/55R18.

In order to embody Mazda's zero-emission concept, the new car interiors are mostly made of sustainable materials, mostly are cork, fabric, recycled plastic. The new car adopts a dual-screen design. The upper floating center console screen is used to display information. In front of the gear bar is a screen with simple buttons on both sides.

The new car is equipped with Mazda's latest intelligent safety assist system I-ACTIVSENSE, which includes active safety technology that enables safe driving by correct driver awareness and pre-crash safety technology that mitigates injuries in accidents.

The new car is powered by Mazda's latest e-Skyactiv electric system and is equipped with a lithium battery with a total battery capacity of 35.5 kWh and a maximum output of 6.6 kW.
