It is reported that Mazda is expected to launch a new large-scale vehicle platform and power system two years later. It will use the new technology to push the Mazda brand to higher-end markets and compete directly with luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Lexus.

As early as March 2019, Mazda had proposed to develop a new large-scale vehicle platform and power system. The car may be based on the previous Vision Coupe Concept, using the soul-moving design concept, and the car length is expected to exceed 5 meters.

In order to continue to attract consumers during the two-year product window period, Mazda will provide more new technologies to existing models. Among them, in the Chinese market, SKYACTIV-X gasoline compression ignition engines will be introduced, which can provide better fuel economy, as well as greater power and torque.

Mazda has previously applied for a patent for a new set of inline 6-cylinder engine exhaust systems, which also confirms that this project is ongoing. At the same time, there is news that the automaker is developing a new 8-speed automatic transmission.

The new car will use a newly developed inline six-cylinder engine, with gasoline and diesel versions of the powertrain, and will be built using SKYACTIV Technology. The new engine adopts a vertical layout and matches the new 8AT gearbox. It has a 48V light hybrid and PHEV plug-in hybrid version.
