BMW (China) Automotive Trading Co., Ltd. announced a recall of 19 imported X3 M50 vehicles produced between March 27 and September 16, 2025, effective January 9, 2026. The recall is due to a defect in the steering system software: in the event of a torque sensor failure, the system may fail to correctly identify erroneous signals, potentially causing unexpected steering wheel movement upon vehicle startup and posing a safety hazard. BMW will provide a free software update for affected vehicles to eliminate this risk. This recall has been filed with China's State Administration for Market Regulation.
