On January 8, XPeng announced annual updates for four of its models, including the addition of extended-range hybrid variants for two of them. Previously focused solely on battery electric vehicles (BEVs), XPeng launched its first extended-range model in late November 2025. The company now offers three extended-range models, spanning the three major segments: sedans, SUVs, and MPVs. XPeng plans to introduce a total of seven extended-range models by 2026. In recent years, the plug-in hybrid new energy vehicle market has grown significantly faster than the pure electric segment, with early adopters like BYD and Li Auto already reaping substantial market benefits. XPeng’s intensified push into the extended-range segment aims to align with this trend, diversify its product lineup, and better compete in an increasingly fierce market.
