According to data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), Japanese brands continued to dominate Indonesia's automotive market in 2025. Toyota retained its top position with retail sales of 258,923 units, followed by Daihatsu, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Suzuki in second through fifth places, respectively. Among Chinese brands, BYD stood out with 44,342 units sold, ranking sixth and surpassing Wuling (20,607 units). Its premium sub-brand, Denza, also recorded sales of 6,940 units, marking its initial foray into the premium segment. Chery, GAC Aion, and Vietnamese brand VinFast each achieved retail sales exceeding 1,000 units. Although there are slight discrepancies between wholesale and retail figures, the overall landscape shows Japanese automakers firmly occupying the top five spots, while Chinese brands are accelerating their push to capture market share from sixth place onward.
