Mercedes-Benz reported a 9% year-over-year decline in global vehicle sales for 2025, dropping to 1.8 million units—the brand’s worst annual performance in recent years. Deliveries in China plummeted by 19%, primarily due to intensifying competition from domestic brands. U.S. sales fell by 12%, impacted by tariff policies and inventory management issues, while European sales edged down slightly by 1%. Despite the G-Class SUV achieving a record annual sales high, global deliveries of the core mid-size E-Class declined by 10% to 1.05 million units. Sales of all-electric vehicles also dropped 9% year-over-year, totaling just 168,800 units—a stark contrast to BMW, whose EV sales rose by 3.6% over the same period. Mercedes-Benz stated it will maintain its premium-focused strategy, emphasizing long-term value and product experience to navigate the dual challenges of electrification and fierce market competition.
