BMW will launch its first true all-electric high-performance M model next year, likely named the iM3. The new vehicle will feature four independent motors—one for each wheel—and be equipped with M-specific front and rear drive units along with an ultra-high-capacity battery exceeding 100 kWh. Dual-sided cooling and an optimized layout enhance power output. Built on BMW’s next-generation "software-defined vehicle" architecture, the car’s central “Heart of Joy” control module enables faster response times and precise power distribution. In terms of driving dynamics, the iM3 offers a switchable simulated gearshift mode; drivers can use paddle shifters to adjust regenerative braking and throttle response, recreating the handling feel of traditional combustion-engine M cars. Additionally, to improve sustainability, the body will no longer use carbon fiber but instead adopt Bcomp’s natural fiber composite, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 40%.
