On January 14, Xiaomi Auto clarified the controversy surrounding the claim of "instantly stopping from 200 km/h," stating that this phrasing was an emotional expression used by Lei Jun while demonstrating the performance of the SU7 Ultra's carbon-ceramic brake discs, and should not be interpreted literally as "instantaneous." Xiaomi emphasized that the related video genuinely captured the entire braking process—from over 200 km/h to a complete stop—without any speed-up or editing. During a live stream, Lei Jun had already addressed misconceptions regarding statements such as "charging only once for 1,300 kilometers" and "instant stop." Xu Jieyun, General Manager of Xiaomi’s Public Relations Department, explained that the term "instant" was merely a colloquial metaphor and should not be overinterpreted. She suggested using professional instruments to measure actual braking distance, time, and deceleration G-values to scientifically address public skepticism. The demonstration video, originally released in March 2025, sparked widespread online discussion, with some netizens questioning its physical plausibility. The phrase "instant stop" quickly became a popular internet meme. Xiaomi stated it is committed to transparently revealing the facts.
