In 2025, China's automobile production and sales reached 34.531 million and 34.4 million units respectively, up by 10.4% and 9.4% year-on-year, maintaining its position as the world’s largest automotive market for the 17th consecutive year. Notably, new energy vehicle (NEV) production and sales surpassed 16 million units, accounting for over 50% of total domestic new car sales for the first time, establishing NEVs as the dominant force in the market. Total vehicle exports exceeded 7 million units, with NEV exports reaching 2.615 million units—a doubling compared to the previous year. Chinese-brand passenger vehicles captured nearly 70% of the domestic market share, an increase of 4.3 percentage points year-on-year. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025), China’s auto industry achieved multiple milestones: annual production and sales have exceeded 30 million units for three consecutive years, revenue surpassed RMB 10 trillion, vehicle exports rose to rank first globally, and the integration of electrification, intelligence, and connectivity has accelerated, continuously expanding the industry’s competitive edge.
