Hyundai Motor Group recently announced the appointment of Minwoo Park, a former autonomous driving executive from NVIDIA and Tesla, as head of its Advanced Vehicle Platform (AVP) division and CEO of its autonomous driving subsidiary, 42dot. This move aims to strengthen the company’s technological competitiveness in software-defined vehicles and autonomous driving, accelerating product development and commercialization. With extensive experience in both R&D and commercialization at leading tech firms, Park is expected to help Hyundai address weaknesses such as inefficient software algorithm iteration and fragmented internal resource integration. Currently, Hyundai is advancing its collaboration with NVIDIA to build an AI factory and plans to invest $35 billion between 2026 and 2030 in emerging technologies including autonomous driving. Against the backdrop of intensifying global competition in autonomous driving, this leadership reshuffle is seen as a critical step for Hyundai to break through.
