Dongfeng Motor recently launched extreme cold-weather testing in Wuhan for a prototype vehicle equipped with a solid-state battery boasting an energy density of 350 Wh/kg. The vehicle has been dispatched to the Mohe cold-climate test base. The battery has completed validation of its materials and electrochemical system and has already rolled off the pilot production line. It enables a driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, retains 72% of its capacity at -30°C, and has passed safety tests in a 170°C thermal chamber. This winter test campaign will conduct over 70 evaluations in ambient temperatures ranging from -40°C to -30°C, focusing on low-temperature range, charging performance, and durability. Dongfeng has established full-stack capabilities spanning R&D to pilot production and is developing a portfolio of solid-state batteries with energy densities ranging from 240 to 500 Wh/kg. The company plans to begin mass production and vehicle integration of solid-state batteries by 2026.
