Mercedes-Benz has recently begun cold-weather testing of its all-new compact four-wheel-drive SUV, nicknamed the "Baby G." Spy photos reveal that despite heavy camouflage, the vehicle’s boxy and rugged silhouette is already clearly discernible. The new model is not merely a downsized version of the G-Class; instead, it has been developed from the ground up on an entirely new, dedicated platform. While carrying forward the G-Class’s iconic design language, it incorporates younger, sharper front-end details. Mercedes-Benz emphasizes that to preserve authentic off-road DNA, the "Baby G" does not use any existing platform or ladder-frame chassis; key components such as suspension and wheels are highly customized. Positioned more toward urban usage with a more compact footprint, the vehicle nonetheless remains faithful to the core identity of the G-Class. Powertrain details have not yet been disclosed, but multiple energy options are expected to be offered in the future.
