BMW has officially confirmed that the next-generation 4 Series is under development and will be launched on the Neue Klasse (New Class) architecture, offering both combustion-engine and all-electric variants simultaneously. As a more sporty derivative of the 3 Series, the 4 Series will retain multiple body styles, including coupe, convertible, and four-door Gran Coupe, with the high-performance M4 also continuing into the new generation. BMW’s head of R&D, Frank Weber, emphasized that the 4 Series holds a significant position within the brand, serving as a direct embodiment of BMW’s sporting DNA. By sharing its platform with core models, the 4 Series—as well as derivatives like the X4 and X6—can be produced cost-effectively to meet demand from customers who favor dynamic design. Amid market shifts such as Audi integrating the A5 into the A4 lineup and Mercedes-Benz merging its C-Class and E-Class coupes into the new CLE, the 4 Series will occupy a distinct niche segment. The all-electric version is expected to feature a 108 kWh battery pack, delivering over 800 km of range, and will be available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.
