On the evening of January 15, Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, once again strongly criticized the automotive industry's practice of "fine-print marketing" during a live stream, emphasizing that all technical specifications of the Xiaomi SU7 are accurately and transparently labeled. Using the SU7’s silicon carbide high-voltage platform as an example, he explicitly stated actual voltage values such as 752V and 897V, rather than vaguely labeling them as "800V" or "900V." Lei directly called the industry-wide practice of labeling 350V systems as "400V" a "bad habit," and asked viewers rhetorically whether they would accept a 600V system being marketed as 800V. He reiterated Xiaomi’s commitment to using clear, large-font labeling in advertising—ensuring completeness and accuracy—and refusing to follow the trend of ambiguous descriptions. Lei also expressed willingness to be held to even higher standards of oversight. Earlier, on January 3, he had already announced plans to rectify "fine-print marketing" practices and opposed mischaracterizing compliant advertising as false or excessive promotion.
