On January 15, Xiaomi Auto announced it would lower the safety mileage requirement for its advanced driver-assistance features. Previously, users had to accumulate 1,000 kilometers of usage with functions such as highway navigation-assisted driving and adaptive cruise control before unlocking city navigation-assisted driving—a measure originally implemented to enhance safety. However, this threshold drew significant user feedback criticizing it as overly restrictive and detrimental to the core intelligent driving experience. Xiaomi Auto, placing high importance on user input, has decided to optimize the policy following evaluation, with the adjustment set to take effect in the next OTA update. Founder Lei Jun confirmed the change during a live stream on the same day. Xiaomi emphasized that driver-assistance features are not equivalent to autonomous driving, and users must remain attentive to road conditions and ready to take control of the vehicle at all times.
