Maruti Suzuki, India's largest automaker, plans to invest $3.9 billion to build a new plant in Gujarat. The facility is expected to commence production in fiscal year 2029 and will add up to 1 million vehicles annually to its capacity, raising its total annual production capacity to 2.4 million units. This move aims to meet sustained growth in domestic demand in India as well as expanding export orders. Maruti Suzuki, majority-owned by Japan's Suzuki Motor Corporation, currently holds the top spot in India's vehicle sales rankings.
