Despite recent claims questioning whether Toyota's reliability has been "overrated," multiple technicians from Aeschbach Automotive in the U.S. generally agreed in TikTok videos that, as long as it receives regular maintenance, Toyota remains the industry benchmark. Some pointed out that older Toyota models routinely last 300,000 to 400,000 kilometers, while others noted that certain recent models—such as the Tundra—have faced recalls due to engine debris issues, affecting the brand’s reputation. However, most technicians emphasized that any vehicle will develop problems if neglected. Experts recommend strictly adhering to maintenance schedules: checking tire pressure and fluid levels monthly, changing engine oil and inspecting the battery every six months, and servicing brakes and suspension systems annually. Consumer Reports still ranks Toyota as the most reliable brand, while J.D. Power places it fourth. Although debate persists, the technicians unanimously agree: when it comes to reliability, 70% depends on the car itself—and 30% on how well it’s maintained.
