The Trump administration is pushing to roll back vehicle emissions regulations in an effort to lower new car prices and address American consumers' concerns about vehicle affordability. U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin, and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer recently embarked on a two-day trip across the Midwest, visiting Ford’s truck plant in Detroit and Stellantis’ Jeep manufacturing facility in Ohio, before jointly attending the Detroit Auto Show on Saturday. The officials emphasized that the current policy focus is on reducing the financial burden of car purchases for consumers, while de-emphasizing electric vehicles and instead supporting a broader range of gasoline-powered and hybrid vehicle options.
