On January 19, NIO’s Legal Department announced that courts have issued rulings in multiple cases involving online accounts that maliciously defamed NIO. Mao Xiangjian—the operator of accounts such as “Wangtu Network”—and the Changsha County Xingsha Xiaowangtu Network Technology Service Studio were ordered by the court to issue a public apology and compensate NIO for economic losses after publishing false information and deliberately tarnishing NIO’s reputation to attract online traffic. In another case, Cai Yongjin and Wang Yanzhao—the users behind accounts including “Lao Cai Business Reflection”—along with Hangzhou Qingsong Laikè Culture & Media Co., Ltd., have already complied with the effective court judgment by issuing apologies and paying compensation for publishing defamatory content that damaged NIO’s reputation. NIO stated it will resolutely use legal means to safeguard the rights and interests of both the company and its users, and will donate all compensation received from these legal actions to public welfare initiatives in education, elderly care, and other charitable causes.
