By the end of 2025, Spain had a total of 50,000 public electric vehicle (EV) charging points, representing a year-on-year increase of approximately 10%. Among these, the number of high-power chargers rated between 50 and 250 kW doubled, while ultra-fast charging units exceeding 250 kW grew by 85%. According to the Spanish Association for Electric Vehicles and Infrastructure (AEDIVE), the country has already established an initial high-power charging network capable of supporting medium- and long-distance travel. Currently, nearly 60% of all charging points are concentrated in four regions: Catalonia, Madrid, Andalusia, and Valencia. AEDIVE emphasized that the next priority will be enhancing destination charging infrastructure in urban and suburban areas. As part of Europe’s market of over one million public charging points, Spain plans to invest approximately €60 billion to advance transport electrification. The initiative is expected to boost GDP by 1.94% annually over the next five years and generate an additional €11 billion in economic output.
