During the 2026 Detroit Auto Show, Ram brand CEO Tim Kuniskis acknowledged that although Dodge and Ram have operated as separate brands since 2009, the public still commonly refers to them collectively as “Dodge Ram.” He admitted he himself often slips into using the old name, viewing it as a reflection of consumers’ deep-rooted association with both brands. Kuniskis noted that if Stellantis decided to merge the two brands again, “it wouldn’t be out of the question,” as the market cares more about specific products—such as Ram trucks equipped with HEMI engines—than corporate branding structures. Currently, while the two brands share dealer networks and after-sales services, their product lines remain distinct: Ram focuses exclusively on pickup trucks, while Dodge emphasizes muscle cars and SUVs. In 2025, Ram sold 431,000 vehicles in the U.S., far surpassing Dodge’s 102,000 units, highlighting their divergent growth trajectories. Kuniskis emphasized that any potential merger would ultimately depend on whether consumers truly care about the distinction.
