In 2025, China exported 8.32 million vehicles, a 30% year-on-year increase, marking the third consecutive year it has ranked as the world’s top vehicle exporter. Of this total, 3.43 million were new energy vehicles (NEVs), surging 70% year-on-year and serving as the primary driver of growth. The export market structure has significantly improved: Mexico surpassed Russia to become China’s largest automotive export destination for the first time, with exports reaching 625,200 units, while the UAE emerged as the fastest-growing market, adding 241,700 units. Other top ten export destinations included Russia, the UAE, the UK, and Brazil, with China’s market share notably expanding in the Middle East, Central and South America, and Europe. Notably, plug-in hybrid and hybrid models—particularly plug-in hybrid pickups—have become a new highlight in NEV exports. Although the average export price declined to $16,000, largely due to a reduced share of Tesla exports, China’s overall vehicle exports are demonstrating a high-quality, diversified development trend.
