Facing persistently declining sales in the Chinese market—delivering 42,938 vehicles in China in 2025, a 26% year-over-year drop—Porsche China CEO Matthias Müller emphasized the company’s principle of “doing it right before doing it fast,” prioritizing quality, safety, and reliability, and refusing to let customers become test subjects for its products. While acknowledging the advantages of “China speed” in R&D efficiency, Porsche remains cautious in balancing speed with quality. To counter the pressure from domestic brands’ advances in smart technology and price competition, Porsche is implementing strategic adjustments: it plans to streamline its dealer network from 114 to 80 outlets by 2026 and reduce inventory by 30%. Additionally, the all-electric Cayenne will launch this year, followed by two new SUV models (including combustion-engine and plug-in hybrid variants) by the end of the decade. Porsche also plans to introduce multiple China-exclusive models to better meet local market demands.
