Toyota recently unveiled the 2026 Yaris and Yaris Cross in Japan, with both models set to go on sale on March 2. The most notable upgrade is the enhanced infotainment screen across the entire lineup: higher trims now feature a 10.5-inch display, while base models have been upgraded from 7 inches to 8 inches. Keyless entry and push-button start are now standard across all variants. Of particular interest is the Z Urbano special edition, which now offers a six-speed manual transmission paired with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine—catering to enthusiasts who prefer manual gearboxes. Exterior changes are minimal, though two new body colors—Mustard and Urban Khaki—are now available, along with optional GR Parts exterior styling kits. On the features front, hybrid models gain an electronic parking brake and AUTO HOLD functionality, but lose the advanced parking assist and transparent underbody view systems. Powertrain options for the Japanese market remain unchanged, offering 1.0L and 1.5L gasoline engines alongside hybrid systems. Notably, the 129-horsepower version sold in Europe has not been introduced in Japan. All-wheel drive remains available on select variants. Prices have increased across the board, with the Yaris now ranging from approximately ¥1.6 million to ¥2.8 million (roughly RMB 76,000 to 133,000), and the Yaris Cross priced between about ¥2.0 million and ¥3.1 million (approximately RMB 95,000 to 149,000).
