The all-new BMW i3 will make its official debut on March 18. As the first all-electric sedan in BMW’s “Neue Klasse” series, it features the sixth-generation eDrive electric drive technology and comes standard with an 800V high-voltage architecture. The initial model, the i3 50 xDrive, is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering a combined output of 469 horsepower and a CLTC-rated range exceeding 644 kilometers. Exterior styling follows BMW’s latest design language, highlighted by an illuminated kidney grille, segmented daytime running lights, 19-inch aerodynamic wheels, and full-width 3D taillights. Inside, the cabin adopts a minimalist yet modern aesthetic, featuring the “Horizon Panoramic Display” and the “Heart of Joy” control system—dubbed the “Driving Superbrain”—which offers a 10-fold improvement in response speed. Sustainability is a key focus: the vehicle extensively uses recycled materials, with wheel hubs and steering knuckles made from 80% recycled aluminum. A pre-production version rolled off the assembly line in Munich in February, with overseas deliveries scheduled to begin in the third or fourth quarter.
